My child has been suspended long-term (rest of school year) because a volunteer has said that my daughter threw water on her from a water bottle. My daughter says she did not do it and the principle never tried to get any statements from witnesses to get to the truth of the matter. The volunteer that said this has a history of lying, cursing at students along with making numerous vulgar statements.

I requested a meeting that was cancelled by the principal. In addition, after much research, I have found that the principal can only propose long-term suspension, not make the final decision. A final decision has to be made after a meeting and can only be made final by the Division of Special Education, Student Support Services, and Office of Attendance and Suspension Services. I have every intention of going as far with this as I can even if that means hiring an attorney. WJZ TV, Board of Education, and the Mayor's Office are already being contacted!
