"I have a new student in the PRIDE program
which is finally meeting his learning needs. I
have been very impressed with the educational
skills and caring of all of the PRIDE staff. This
is one of Baltimore City's outstanding programs.
The school is exceptionally well administered
with no kids roaming the halls, and it is a quiet
environment where learning can take place."

"I am a student of this school. I am in the
7th grade. It as made a complete turn around from
last year. We used to have food fights all the
time but now it doesnt happen. We learn more and
our grades are getting better. I have been with
the exact same studenst from my old class. Here
grades have changed amazingly this year."
(March 2006)
"Dr. Miles has done an incredible job turning
this school around. Especially with a fresh staff
and an incredible new staff lead by Tanya Green-A.P.
They are the promise of this school."

" This school is not a good school. I had
to pull my son out of it because of constant disrespect
and problem students. he went from a straight
'A' down to a failing student in just one year.
but teaching about god is NOT the way to deal
with this problem. this school probably needs
to be closed down and reopened. in any case, MAJOR
overhaul is necessary."

"Im a student of new calverton middle school
and my school had many troubles last school year
due to unorganized programs.Towards the end of
the school year it was a great success. They had
mr.Ray and mr.Cook assisting a program that would
help us older children get put in our right grade.
The program was great. It helped us to keep a
positive influence on our future lifes. It also
helped us to build our self asteem higher. I think
this school year will be a big success for new
calverton middle school. I think we will go from
the worst school in baltimore city to the best
school in baltimore city thanks to our new leadership
program which is a program for the children who
supose to be in high school. If they do what they
supose to do until the end of firsyt semester
they will be promoted highschool."

"From a former Teacher at Calverton: The
few problem students turn so many of the others
to bad and the bad gets worse. Teenagers don't
want to be picked on or beat up, so survival instincts
tell them to look tough with the profanity and
negative behavior. It was hard going to work.
Teachers are only human and the parents do not
teach their kids as I do mine, that their Teachers
are #1 and not to be sacrificed from 8am-3pm.
The connection to education and future success
doesn't connect. Not one suspension will I tolerate.
The former Principal was making improvements,
then stagnated one year, he needed more support
not to be pushed out. Now, it is worse as it was
before he came, Karl Perry. A Teacher is hired
to teach, lay down classroom rules, but the rules
broken are system-wide rules. The system ties
the hands of principals and Teachers."
(February 2005)
"Calverton needs a complete overhaul,there
is no real leadership and the students have total
control over their teachers. When a teacher can
not teach due to the lack of respect from the
students something has to change. This behavior
is creating a problem for the students who really
want to learn.Since September the only productive
activity at this school is the choir. Everyday
the same report is being given, ' we did not do
anything, but listen to the radio or watch a movie.'It
just seems like a waste of time sending your child
to school for this. There is no work structure
and the Children are not learning. How can anyone
pass City or State wide tests if all they do is
play.My solution to the problems in all the schools
is to teach about GOD the creator, they need more
than just the help of us men. 'They need the LORD.'"
(January 2005)
"There is no leadership there. Students do
not have the opportunity for the best education
they deserve. Two sheets of paper is no form of
productive homework. No productivity or motivation
for students or concerned parents."
(October 2004)
"This school has poor conduct and does not
care for there students safety. "
